Want to follow the steps on the operator site?

Go to Betika

Betika registration takes a couple of minutes: on the website or app, tap Join or Register, enter your Safaricom number, choose a password, accept the terms and confirm with the code Betika sends by SMS. You can also sign up by SMS from a basic phone. Both routes create the same account, and you must be 18 or older.

Sign up on the Betika website or app

  1. Open the official Betika site or app.
  2. Tap Join Now or Register.
  3. Enter your mobile number. This becomes your login and your M-Pesa account for withdrawals.
  4. Create a strong password that you do not use for M-Pesa or email.
  5. Tick the box confirming you are 18+ and accept the terms.
  6. Enter the verification code from the SMS to activate the account.

Register for Betika by SMS

For phones without data, Kenyan press reports describe SMS registration: send the word BETIKA to the Betika shortcode 29090 shown in the key facts box. You receive a reply confirming the account and a password or PIN. Betika also has a USSD menu for sign-up and balance checks; take the current code from Betika's help pages. Our Betika SMS guide continues from there with placing bets offline.

Which number should you register?

Use the Safaricom line where you receive M-Pesa. Withdrawals go only to the registered number, so registering a line you rarely use creates problems later. Airtel subscribers should check what Betika currently supports for deposits and withdrawals before signing up with an Airtel number.

Verification code not arriving?

  • Wait two minutes and check network signal.
  • Make sure your inbox is not full and the number was typed correctly with no extra digits.
  • Check whether promotional SMS are blocked on your line; some phones filter shortcode messages.
  • Request the code again from the same screen, not by starting a new account.

Still stuck? Contact Betika through the channels on our Betika customer care page.

One account per person

Bookmakers allow one account per person and phone number. Opening extra accounts to claim offers again can lead to winnings being withheld. Never register on behalf of someone under 18, and never let a friend use your account.
