Betika is a Kenyan online bookmaker run by Shop and Deliver Limited, offering football and other sports, live betting, jackpots, virtuals and casino games, with deposits and withdrawals through M-Pesa. This Betika review is written by BetTips.co.ke, an independent review and tips site: we are not Betika, we cannot open or fix your account, and if you only want the official Betika home page, use the button below to go straight there.
Go to the official Betika site
If you are still deciding whether Betika suits you, read on. We cover who stands behind the brand, what the sportsbook and jackpots look like, how the app, Lite site and SMS betting differ, and the practical checks every Kenyan punter should make before sending money through M-Pesa.
Who runs Betika and is it licensed?
The brand belongs to Shop and Deliver Limited, the company that appears first on the list of 99 gaming firms the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) approved for licensing in the 2025/2026 financial year. That list was published in August 2025. Since then the Gambling Control Act 2025 has moved oversight from the BCLB to the new Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), so the licence details you see in the site footer may change wording during the transition.
We could not read Betika's licence number on an official page from outside Kenya, so we do not print one here. The key facts box pulls the licence field from our operator record, and the safest habit is simple: scroll to the bottom of the Betika site or app, read the licence statement and compare it with what the regulator publishes. Our licensed betting sites in Kenya page explains how to do that check for any bookmaker.
Finding the real Betika online and avoiding copies
Because "Betika" is typed into Google millions of times a month, lookalike pages and fake "Betika agents" on WhatsApp are a real problem. A few habits protect you:
- The same Betika domain serves several countries, and the Kenyan version sits in its own Kenya section. Make sure the page shows KES amounts and Kenyan payment options before you log in.
- When you pay through M-Pesa, the confirmation SMS should name BETIKA as the recipient. If the name is a person or an unknown business, stop and contact your network.
- Betika staff will never ask for your M-Pesa PIN or a one-time code. Anyone who does is a fraudster.
- "Old Betika" and "Betika home" searches usually mean people want the classic layout. That is the Lite site, covered on our Betika Lite page, not a separate company.
Betika sports betting: football first
Football drives almost everything on Betika. The sportsbook covers the English Premier League, which is the league most Kenyan punters follow, plus La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, the Champions League and many lower divisions that also appear on jackpot cards. The domestic FKF Premier League (still widely called the KPL) is listed when fixtures are confirmed. Basketball, tennis, rugby and other sports fill the rest of the menu.
Markets go well beyond 1X2: double chance, both teams to score, over/under goals, handicaps, correct score and half-time/full-time are standard. If you are new to these, our how to bet guide walks through each one with KES examples. A typical EPL Saturday has kick-offs at 15:00, 17:30 and 20:00 East Africa Time during the British winter, which is when Betika's "today's games" list is busiest.
Betika live and multibets
The live section lets you bet while a match is running, with odds that move after goals, cards and substitutions. Live betting rewards a clear plan and punishes chasing, so set a stake limit before kick-off. Multibets (accumulators) combine several selections into one slip; every leg must win, which is why the potential return looks large. For a sense of how odds multiply, try our odds calculator before you place a long slip.
Betika jackpots and how they work
Jackpots are a big reason Kenyans open Betika accounts. The Grand Jackpot is a 17-game card where you pick 1, X or 2 for every fixture, usually played over a weekend. There is also a shorter Midweek Jackpot and a daily jackpot called Sababisha. Game counts, stakes and bonus tiers have changed over the years, so always read the current jackpot card on the Betika site before you play.
Two practical points: Kenyan press has reported that the Grand Jackpot games can be fetched by SMS, and jackpot picks are pure long shots. Treat a jackpot ticket as a small entertainment spend, not a plan. Our Betika jackpot predictions page explains how we analyse each card and why no prediction is ever certain.
Casino, Aviator and virtual games
Betika's Kenyan site lists a casino section, crash games including Spribe's Aviator, and virtual sports. These run on the same wallet as your sports bets. Crash games and virtuals settle in seconds, which makes them far faster at draining a balance than a weekend football slip. If you play them, read our pages on Betika Aviator, Betika casino and today's games and Betika virtual football first, and ignore anyone selling "predictor" apps, which are scams.
App, Lite, SMS or web: which way to use Betika
Betika works on several channels, which is one reason it is popular with punters on basic phones and patchy data.
| Channel | Best for | Our guide |
|---|---|---|
| Android app | Smartphone users who bet often and want notifications | Betika app download |
| Betika Lite | Low data, older phones, slow networks | Betika Lite |
| SMS | Feature phones and betting without internet | Betika SMS betting |
| Full website | Laptops and big screens, live betting with stats | Official site via the button above |
Betika also offers a USSD menu for registration and balance checks, according to Kenyan press reports. Check the current code on Betika's own help pages rather than trusting numbers shared on social media.
Betika and M-Pesa: deposits and payouts
Betika says it was the first Kenyan bookmaker to build M-Pesa deposits and withdrawals directly into its platform, back in 2017. Today you can top up from the site or app with an M-Pesa prompt, or through Lipa na M-Pesa using the paybill shown in the key facts box, with the phone number on your betting account as the account reference in most cases. Withdrawals go back to the M-Pesa line linked to your account.
Kenyan law charges excise duty when you deposit into a betting wallet, so the credited amount can be lower than what you sent, and the bookmaker deducts withholding tax from winnings before paying out. The rules changed in July 2025 and again in July 2026, so read the tax note on Betika's deposit and withdrawal screens. Full step-by-step instructions are on our Betika paybill page and our betting tax guide.
Bonuses, free bets and referrals
The Kenyan site has promotions and free bet sections and a refer-a-friend offer. The details rotate, and we did not find stable bonus terms we could print, so any current welcome offer or code appears in the key facts box when we have confirmed it. Read the wagering rules, minimum odds and expiry before you accept anything. Our Betika bonus and promo code page tracks what is publicly listed.
Betika strengths and weak points
| What works | What to watch |
|---|---|
| Kenyan company on the 2025/2026 approved list | Licence number not visible to us from outside Kenya; check the footer |
| Many ways to bet: app, Lite, SMS, web | Fake Betika pages and "agents" target new users |
| Deep jackpot range from daily to Grand Jackpot | Jackpot formats change; old guides go out of date fast |
| M-Pesa built into deposits and withdrawals | Excise and withholding tax reduce what you see in the wallet |
We did not open an account, deposit or test withdrawals for this review. Everything above comes from Betika's public site, its published sections and Kenyan press coverage.
Our verdict on Betika
Betika is a sensible choice for Kenyan punters who want football, jackpots and simple M-Pesa payments from a locally registered company, especially if they sometimes bet on a basic phone. It is not a shortcut to income: set a weekly budget, use the deposit limits the site offers and walk away when the budget is gone. Betting is for adults 18+ only, and BCLB's responsible gambling resources, now carried forward by the GRA, explain self-exclusion if you need it. Compare Betika with other licensed bookmakers on our best betting sites in Kenya list.
