Want to follow the steps on the operator site?

Go to SportPesa

SportPesa registration takes a few minutes: open the official site or app, tap Register or Join, enter your Safaricom or Airtel phone number and a password, accept the terms, then confirm the code sent to your phone by SMS. Your phone number becomes your account login and the line where withdrawals are paid. You must be at least 18 to register.

BetTips.co.ke is a separate, independent publisher; we did not open an account ourselves. The steps below follow the operator's public sign-up flow as of October 2026.

Register on SportPesa

Register on SportPesa online

  1. Go to the official SportPesa site through a trusted link, or open the SportPesa app.
  2. Tap Register or Join Now.
  3. Enter your mobile number in the format the form asks for.
  4. Create a password you do not use elsewhere.
  5. Tick the box to confirm you are 18+ and accept the terms.
  6. Enter the verification code sent to your phone.
  7. Log in and complete any profile details the account asks for.

Registering by SMS

SportPesa has long offered SMS services for phones without data. To register by text, use the SMS shortcode and keyword published on the operator's site; the shortcode, when confirmed, also appears in the facts box. Do not use codes copied from old blogs: some historic SportPesa shortcodes were blocked during the 2019-2022 licence dispute. Our SportPesa SMS guide explains how text betting works once you have an account.

What you need before you start

ItemWhy it matters
Your own phone lineIt is your login and the payout destination
Access to SMS on that lineFor the verification code and password resets
A national IDThe operator may ask for identity checks before payouts
A budgetDecide your weekly limit before the first deposit

After registering: the first deposit

Open the cashier, enter an amount and confirm the STK push on your phone, or use Lipa na M-Pesa with the business number shown in the cashier. Our SportPesa paybill page shows each screen and how to check the recipient name. Start small; you can always add more once you know how the site works.

Sign-up problems

  • "Number already registered": you may have an old account. Use password reset instead of opening a new one; duplicate accounts break most bookmaker terms.
  • Code not arriving: check signal and SMS storage, wait a minute and request a new code.
  • Page will not load: you may be on a copy site. Return to the official address.

Welcome offers

Some sites promise a "SportPesa registration bonus". Offers change, and we only list a welcome bonus in the facts box when confirmed. See the SportPesa bonuses page before relying on any offer. For an overview of the bookmaker, read our SportPesa review.

Frequently asked questions

Can I register on SportPesa with an Airtel number?

SportPesa works with Airtel Money through a partnership with Airtel Kenya, so Airtel lines can be used. Check the sign-up form for accepted formats.

Do I need an ID to register on SportPesa?

The basic sign-up uses your phone number, but the operator can ask for identity checks, especially before payouts.

Can I have two SportPesa accounts?

Bookmakers generally allow one account per person and phone number. Recover your old account instead of opening another.

Is there a SportPesa promo code for registration?

We do not publish codes we cannot confirm. Check the official promotions page and our SportPesa bonuses page.
