No prediction is ever sure. Tips here are opinions built on form and statistics, so treat them as research, not a promise. 18+.

This page carries our daily double chance prediction list together with straight 1X2 betting tips. 1X2 is the classic market: 1 for a home win, X for a draw, 2 for an away win. Double chance covers two of those three outcomes in one bet (1X, X2 or 12) at a lower price. Many Kenyan punters start here, and choosing between the two markets on each match is a skill in itself, so we show which one we prefer for every pick.

Each entry lists the fixture, kick-off in EAT, our selection (for example "1" or "X2"), the odds when published and a short reason. Where both markets make sense we name the one we would actually bet and explain why.

1X2 vs double chance in plain terms

2Away team winsDraw or home win
1XHome win or drawAway win
X2Away win or drawHome win
12Either team winsDraw

The price of a double chance bet is roughly what you get by combining the two outcomes. If the home win is 2.10 and the draw is 3.40, 1X will be around 1.30. You are paying for the extra safety with a much smaller return.

When we choose double chance

Double chance makes sense when we rate a team clearly better than the price suggests but expect a tight game. Typical cases:

  • A stronger away side at a ground where draws are common: X2 can be better value than the plain away win.
  • An underdog with a solid defence against a favourite with rotation worries: X2 on the underdog.
  • Two attacking sides who rarely draw: 12 at a decent price.

And when we stick with 1X2: when the favourite's win price already offers value and the draw adds little, a straight 1 or 2 pays far more for a small increase in risk. We also take the X on its own when a match looks evenly balanced and the draw price is generous, which ties in with our draw predictions.

How each pick is chosen

All our result tips go through four checks. Form: performance over the last six to ten matches, home and away. Expected goals: whether results match the quality of chances. Injuries and suspensions: the players a team cannot replace. Odds value: whether our estimated chance beats the price. A 1X at 1.25 implies an 80% chance; we only publish it when we see something clearly above that.

Reading the draw risk in Kenyan and European leagues

The draw is the outcome most punters underrate, and it is the one double chance protects against. Draw rates vary by competition and by match type. Games between two mid-table sides with similar strength draw more often than games involving a dominant club. Kenyan Premier League fixtures, with tight squads and difficult pitches, are often tight and low-scoring, which can make 1X or X2 more attractive there than a straight win. In the English Premier League the gap between the top clubs and the rest is wider, so straight 1X2 picks on strong favourites can carry more value. We check the draw rate of both teams before choosing the market.

Using double chance in multibets

Low-priced double chance legs are popular filler for accumulators and jackpot-style slips. Be careful. Six legs at 1.25 give about 3.80, and the slip still dies on one upset. Short legs do not make a slip safe; they make each leg likely but the whole thing much less so. If you want a target price, our 2 odds and accumulator tips pages explain how to build it without padding.

Staking result bets in KES

Use a fixed unit of 1-2% of your monthly betting money (KES 50 on a KES 3,000 budget, for example). Stake one unit on singles at any price up to about 2.50 and smaller amounts above that. Do not raise the stake on double chance because it "can't lose": at 1.30, one loss wipes out the profit from three wins.

Placing 1X2 and double chance bets

  1. Deposit via M-Pesa (STK push or Lipa na M-Pesa, Pay Bill, business number, phone number as account) or Airtel Money where offered.
  2. On the match page, 1X2 is shown by default; double chance sits in "All markets", often labelled "DC" or "Double Chance".
  3. Pick the selection, check the potential win after tax and confirm.

Result market mistakes

  • Confusing "1X" (double chance) with "1" plus "X" placed as two separate bets.
  • Backing home favourites by habit; home advantage varies a lot between leagues.
  • Paying for "1X2 tips 100" or similar packages that promise certainty.
  • Stacking many short double chance legs and calling the slip safe.

Betting is for adults 18+ only. Keep result bets inside a budget and stop if you notice you are chasing losses.

Frequently asked questions

What does 1X2 mean in betting?

It is the full-time result market: 1 is a home win, X is a draw and 2 is an away win. It settles on 90 minutes plus stoppage time.

What is double chance?

A bet that covers two of the three results, 1X, X2 or 12. It wins more often than a single outcome but pays less.

Is double chance a safe bet?

It is safer than a single outcome, not safe. Low prices mean one loss can cancel several wins, so stake it the same way as any other bet.

Does double chance include extra time?

No. Like 1X2, it settles on the result after normal time. Cup ties that go to extra time or penalties count as a draw for this market.
