Kenyan Premier League Predictions

Picks for Kenya's top flight when fixtures are confirmed, with the local factors that shape KPL games and the limits of the data.

By , Editor, betting tips and bookmaker reviewsUpdated

No prediction is ever sure. Tips here are opinions built on form and statistics, so treat them as research, not a promise. 18+.

Our KPL predictions cover Kenya's top flight, the FKF Premier League, which most of us still call the Kenyan Premier League. When fixtures are confirmed, the feed below shows our pick for each match we can analyse properly, the market and the reason. Local football is different from the EPL: less data, more uncertainty, and fixtures that can move at short notice, so we publish fewer KPL picks and explain our limits honestly.

If the feed is empty, there are either no KPL fixtures on the current dates or we could not confirm enough team news to publish. The start of the 2026-27 season has been delayed by a dispute over promotion and relegation, so check the federation's announcements and your bookmaker's fixture list before you plan any bets.

Why Kenyan league games are harder to call

The league is sponsored by SportPesa under a long-term title deal signed in 2025, and it is followed closely, but the betting picture is still thin compared with Europe:

  • Limited stats. Detailed chance data such as expected goals is not consistently available for every KPL match, so we lean more on results, goal patterns and match reports.
  • Team news arrives late. Line-ups and injuries are not always confirmed until close to kick-off, and some clubs share little.
  • Fixture changes. Matches can be moved for venue, security or scheduling reasons, sometimes at short notice.
  • Pitches and travel. Long road trips between counties and uneven pitches tend to reduce the quality of play and favour tight games.
  • Smaller markets. Bookmakers offer fewer KPL markets, and prices can move a lot on small amounts of money.

Because the inputs are weaker, we lean towards cautious markets on local games, such as double chance, draw no bet and under goals lines, and away from correct scores and long accumulators. Our draw predictions explain when a draw is a fair bet.

Big fixtures and the Mashemeji derby

Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards draw the biggest crowds and the most betting interest, and their meeting, the Mashemeji derby, is the most talked-about game of the Kenyan season. Derbies are emotional, often cagey and sometimes interrupted. Fan sentiment pushes money onto one side, which can make the other side, or the draw, better value than it looks. We treat derby picks with extra caution and smaller suggested stakes.

Kick-off times for local games are usually in the Kenyan afternoon, but they are set by the league and can change, so confirm the time on the day. Weather also plays a part: heavy rain during the long and short rains can turn a pitch heavy and slow, which tends to favour fewer goals.

Staking local games sensibly

Use a smaller unit for KPL bets than you would for a major European league, for example half your normal stake, because the uncertainty is bigger. Avoid mixing KPL games into a long European accumulator; one postponed or delayed match can leave the slip hanging, and voided legs change the odds you expected. If you want to know how your bookmaker treats postponed games, check its rules page before betting.

How to bet on KPL matches

  1. Choose a licensed bookmaker that lists Kenyan football. Not every site offers the full league.
  2. Deposit with M-Pesa through the STK push or the paybill on the deposit page; your phone number is usually the account number.
  3. Look under Kenya in the football menu, find the match and confirm the date and kick-off time.
  4. Pick the market, check the odds and enter your stake. The operator deducts excise duty on top-ups and withholding tax on payouts automatically.
  5. After the game, check settlement. Local results can take longer to confirm.

Things to watch out for

  • Messages offering "fixed KPL matches". These are scams, and match fixing is a crime that harms local football.
  • Betting on a fixture that has not been confirmed by the league.
  • Letting club loyalty pick your bets.

Betting is for adults aged 18+ only. Support Kenyan football in the stands, bet small if you bet at all, and visit our responsible gambling page if you need help.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Kenyan Premier League the same as the FKF Premier League?

Yes. The official name is the FKF Premier League, and under its sponsorship deal it is branded the SportPesa Premier League. Most fans and bookmakers still call it the KPL.

Why are there fewer KPL predictions than EPL ones?

Because reliable data and team news are harder to get for local games. We only publish a pick when we can explain it properly.

What happens to my bet if a KPL match is postponed?

It depends on the bookmaker's rules. Many void the bet if the match is not played within a set period, which changes the odds of an accumulator. Check the operator's rules page.

Which markets suit Kenyan league games?

Simpler, lower-variance markets such as double chance, draw no bet and under goals lines tend to fit better than correct scores or long accumulators.
