Betlion's Kenyan site stopped loading after the brand was sold to 888Africa in 2023, and in October 2026 betlion.co.ke redirected to an address with no website behind it. An app is only a window onto the bookmaker's systems; with those systems gone, any Betlion APK you find today is either outdated or not from Betlion at all.

The real risk: clones and data theft
When a known brand disappears, its name is valuable to scammers. A fake Betlion app can:
- show a copy of the old login screen and collect your phone number and password;
- request SMS permissions to read M-Pesa messages and one-time codes;
- ask you to "reactivate" an account with a deposit to an unknown paybill;
- advertise a Goliath Jackpot or free bet that no longer exists.
If an app asks for money to unlock an old Betlion balance, close it and uninstall.
Cleaning up an old Betlion app
- Open Settings, then Apps, and find Betlion.
- Check its permissions; remove SMS, contacts and storage access.
- Uninstall the app.
- In Settings, switch off "install unknown apps" for any browser or file manager you used for the APK.
- If you reused your Betlion password elsewhere, change it there.
If you had money on the Betlion app
Uninstalling the app does not affect any claim you may have. Keep your M-Pesa confirmation messages and any screenshots of your balance, and follow the steps in our Betlion review about contacting the owner through official channels.
Licensed apps to use instead
Several licensed Kenyan bookmakers publish apps through official stores or their own sites. - Does that website show a Kenyan company and licence number?
- Does the app avoid asking for SMS or contacts permissions?
