By Betway registration is closed in Kenya. Betway Kenya stopped accepting new sign-ups, and deposits, on 16 May 2023, and the company that ran the brand locally later filed for liquidation. Any page that lets you "register on Betway Kenya" today is not run by a licensed Kenyan Betway operator. Below we explain what that means and show how to sign up safely with an active bookmaker instead.
Why Betway sign up pages are risky now
Registration forms collect exactly what a fraudster wants: your phone number, your name, your date of birth and a password you may reuse. A copycat "Betway registration Kenya" form can use these to target you with fake payment requests or to try the same password on other services. The real Kenyan Betway site did not load when we checked in October 2026.
- Do not enter your ID number on a page using the Betway name.
- Do not "register" through a WhatsApp link or a Telegram bot.
- Do not pay any "registration fee". No licensed bookmaker in Kenya charges one.
What about Betway in other countries?
Betway accounts in other countries are tied to those countries' licences, identity checks and payment methods. Registering from Kenya with false details breaks their terms and puts any winnings at risk. It also leaves you outside Kenyan consumer protection.
How to register safely with a licensed Kenyan bookmaker
- Pick an operator from our licensed betting sites list.
- Open its official website by typing the address or using our link, not a search ad.
- Check the footer for the company name and licence number.
- Tap Register and enter your Safaricom or Airtel number. Use a line registered in your own name.
- Create a password you do not use for M-Pesa or email.
- Confirm with the SMS code and complete your profile with details that match your ID.
- Set a deposit limit before your first deposit.
Registration by SMS
Some Kenyan bookmakers let you register by sending a keyword to their shortcode. This is quick on a basic phone. Use only the shortcode published on the operator's own website. Our SMS betting sites page explains how it works.
