18+. Offers and terms change often: always read the full terms on the operator site before you deposit.

Offers in the table come from our operator records, built from operators' own pages and app store listings. A few examples of how they differ: 22Bet advertises a 100% first deposit match in its Kenyan App Store listing; Chezacash promotes a Karibu Bonus spread across three deposits; Kessbet spreads its welcome bonus over a month and excludes crash games; and betPawa focuses on a multibet win bonus rather than a classic first deposit offer. Always confirm the live terms on the operator's site.

Four ways welcome bonuses are built

StructureHow it worksBest for
First deposit matchA percentage of your first deposit added as bonus funds, up to a capPunters planning a decent first deposit
Multi-deposit packageBonus split over two or three depositsRegular bettors who will deposit again anyway
Free bet after first betPlace a qualifying bet, receive a free betThose who dislike rollover on bonus funds
Ongoing win boostExtra percentage on winning multibets, not just for new playersAccumulator fans

Terms that decide what a welcome bonus is worth

Qualifying deposit

Welcome offers often require a first deposit higher than the site's normal minimum. Deposit less and you may get nothing. Excise duty is deducted on deposits, so check whether the qualifying amount is measured before or after tax.

Rollover

The number of times you must stake the bonus (sometimes bonus plus deposit) before it becomes withdrawable. Lower is better. Very high rollovers turn a big headline into very little real value.

Minimum odds and selections

Many Kenyan offers count only multibets with a minimum number of legs and a minimum price per leg. That pushes you into accumulators, which lose more often than singles.

Expiry and excluded games

Bonuses typically expire within days or weeks. Jackpots, virtuals, Aviator and other crash games are often excluded from wagering.

A quick way to compare two offers

  1. Write down the bonus you would actually receive on the deposit you plan to make, not the maximum.
  2. Multiply it by the rollover to see how much you must stake.
  3. Check whether the minimum odds and legs match how you normally bet.
  4. Check the days allowed. If you bet only on weekends, a seven-day expiry gives you one weekend.
  5. Pick the offer you can realistically complete. A smaller bonus that you clear beats a larger one that expires.

Registration bonus versus deposit bonus

A registration bonus is credited for signing up, sometimes without deposit; a deposit bonus needs money in. Registration bonuses in Kenya are small and rare, and our no deposit bonus page tracks them. Casino welcome bonuses, such as free spins on a first casino deposit, are separate from sports offers and usually carry heavier wagering.

Mistakes that cost new players their bonus

  • Depositing before opting in, when the offer requires opting in first.
  • Opening a second account to claim the offer again; operators link accounts by phone number, ID and device.
  • Withdrawing part of the deposit before the rollover is complete, which can cancel the bonus.
  • Placing bets below the minimum odds and assuming they count.

Welcome bonuses and tax

Excise duty applies to deposits and withholding tax to winnings, and bonus money is no exception once it turns into withdrawable winnings. A bonus that looks generous on the promotion page will pay out a little less after tax, so compare offers on the same basis. Our betting tax guide explains how deductions work at Kenyan bookmakers.

Is a welcome bonus worth taking?

If the rollover is modest and the odds rules match how you bet, a welcome bonus adds real value. If you bet singles at low odds or want quick withdrawals, declining it is often smarter. Either way, welcome offers are marketing aimed at getting you to deposit and bet more. They are for adults 18+; take them only within the budget you would spend anyway. For other types of offers see free bets and promo codes, and for the bookmakers themselves see our betting sites ranking.

Frequently asked questions

Which betting site in Kenya has the best welcome bonus?

It depends on how you bet. Compare the bonus on the deposit you plan to make, the rollover and the minimum odds rather than the maximum amount. The table above lists current offers.

What is the difference between a karibu bonus and a welcome bonus?

None in practice. Karibu means welcome in Swahili, and Kenyan bookmakers use both names for offers to new customers.

Can I get a welcome bonus with a small deposit?

Sometimes, but many offers require a higher first deposit than the site's minimum. Check the qualifying amount in the terms.

Do welcome bonuses apply to Aviator?

Often not. Crash games are frequently excluded from sports welcome offers or from wagering. Read the excluded games list.

Can I cancel a welcome bonus?

Many sites let you decline or cancel a bonus from the account or promotions page, which also removes its restrictions on your deposit. Ask support if the option is not visible.
