Local and International Betting Sites That Accept M-Pesa

Advertiser disclosure: we may earn a commission when you join an operator through links on this page. It never changes our scores. How we make money.

Both local and international betting sites that accept M-Pesa can be used from Kenya, but only those registered here with a Kenyan company and licence are safe to fund: an offshore site with a borrowed paybill leaves you nowhere to complain if a withdrawal stalls. Nearly every licensed bookmaker in Kenya accepts M-Pesa betting: you deposit through a Safaricom paybill or an STK push prompt and withdraw winnings straight back to your phone. The differences are in the details: how quickly withdrawals arrive, whether Airtel Money is accepted directly, what the minimum deposit is, and how clearly the operator handles excise duty. Below are the M-Pesa betting sites we rate, their paybill details from our operator records, and a step-by-step guide to deposits and withdrawals.

Paybill numbers in this table come from our operator records and are updated when an operator changes them. A blank cell means we have not confirmed the number from an official source. Always check the paybill on the bookmaker's own deposit page before sending money, and never use a number shared in a chat group or by a "customer care agent" who contacts you first.

How to deposit with M-Pesa paybill

  1. Open the M-Pesa menu on your Safaricom line, or the M-Pesa app.
  2. Choose Lipa na M-Pesa, then Pay Bill.
  3. Enter the bookmaker's business number.
  4. Enter the account number. For most bookmakers this is your registered phone number or a word the operator specifies on its deposit page.
  5. Enter the amount and your M-Pesa PIN, then confirm.
  6. You get two messages: one from M-Pesa confirming payment, one from the bookmaker confirming the credit. The bookmaker's credit will be lower by the excise duty deducted on deposits.

STK push from the site or app

Most sites now let you type the amount in the cashier and press deposit. A prompt pops up on your phone asking for your M-Pesa PIN. This avoids typing the paybill and account number, and the payment is matched to your account automatically. If no prompt appears, check that your phone is on, unlocked, and that the number on your betting account matches your M-Pesa line.

Withdrawing winnings to M-Pesa

Withdrawals are requested from the bookmaker's site, app or sometimes by SMS. The operator sends the money via a business-to-customer payment, which usually arrives quickly but can be delayed by checks, daily limits or system maintenance. Withholding tax on winnings is deducted by the operator before payout; the amount you receive will reflect that. Before you deposit, look at the operator's minimum and maximum withdrawal per transaction and per day, and whether it charges a withdrawal fee.

Betting sites in Kenya using Airtel Money

Airtel Money is accepted directly by some bookmakers, with their own Airtel business number. Others take Airtel only indirectly, through Airtel to M-Pesa interoperability, which can add charges. The payments field in the table shows what each operator lists. T-Kash and bank cards are less common and mostly offered by international brands.

International betting sites that accept M-Pesa

Several international bookmakers now accept M-Pesa in Kenya, usually through a payment partner rather than their own paybill. When the money goes to a third-party processor, the M-Pesa confirmation may show that company's name instead of the brand. That is not necessarily a problem, but check that the processor is named on the bookmaker's own cashier page. Under the Gambling Control Act, 2025, foreign operators serving Kenyans must hold player funds in a Kenyan bank account, so ask what the operator's Kenyan registration is before depositing large amounts.

Keeping your M-Pesa safe

  • Your M-Pesa PIN is entered only on the Safaricom prompt or menu. No bookmaker or agent will ask for it by call or SMS.
  • Ignore messages saying you sent money "by mistake" and asking you to reverse it.
  • Save each bookmaker's paybill in your contacts from its official site, so you are not tempted to search for it in a hurry.

Easy M-Pesa betting is convenient, and that is part of the risk: deposits take seconds. Set a monthly limit and check your M-Pesa statement for betting payments. Only adults 18+ may bet. For low-stake options see minimum deposit betting sites, and for brand-specific steps, see guides like the SportPesa paybill and Betika paybill pages.

Frequently asked questions

Which betting sites accept M-Pesa?

Almost every licensed Kenyan bookmaker accepts M-Pesa, through a paybill, STK push or both. The table above lists the sites we rate and their published methods.

What account number do I use for a betting paybill?

Usually your registered phone number, but some operators specify a word or account ID. Check the deposit page of the bookmaker.

How long does an M-Pesa withdrawal from a betting site take?

Often a few minutes, but checks, daily limits or maintenance can delay it. The operator's withdrawal terms state its usual processing time.

Can I bet with Airtel Money in Kenya?

Yes, at operators that list Airtel Money as a method. Others accept it only through Airtel to M-Pesa transfers, which may add charges.

What if I sent money to the wrong paybill?

Contact Safaricom immediately and ask for a reversal, quoting the transaction code. The bookmaker cannot recover a payment it never received.
